Ah, the old PMG. I remember the concrete man-hole covers for the phone lines. And the halfpenny, penny, threepenny and sixpenny stamp dispensers at the local PO. My pocketmoney was 4 bob a week back then.

"AH" the good old P.M.G. I spent 8 years with that Mob, 68 - 75,
laying Communication cables in the North West, from Hedland down to Newman.
That's where I learnt to breath through the small corner of one side of the mouth " Bxxxxy Flies "

Gday...
I woz in PMG as a JPO (Junior Postal Officer - Telegram boy) from 1962 to 1963 ... Telegraphist 1963 to 1966 . Resigned.
Returned as a Telegraphist 1968 and then became a Third Division Clerk (I think the technical term was A Shiny Ar5ed Clerk) in 1970 until 1988 ... when they made me an offer too good to refuse and I began my first semi-retirement, bought a van and a Cruiser and headed into the bush for a few years.
Cheers - John
