Sorry I'm a bit slow at replying, but if you mean the Lions Road, yes it's a good road these days. Hilly and windy but bitumen all the way.

The lyons road does not go in the direction of Texas.
As mentioned the lyons road is bitumin all the way, but you would go from B'desert to Woodenbong, then to Tenterfield and then to texas.
That woodenbong to Tenterfild is party dirt but nice graded road.
Cheers

I only mentioned the Lions Rd because it's the shortest route I know of for Beauy to Kyogle.
I didn't comment about Texas because I've never been there.

Hi Johnos, Beaudesert to Kyogle via Woodenbong then down to Kyogle onto Casino.
The road from about halfway between Rathdowney to the turn off at Woodenbong is windy, good general surfaced road, slow, mostly very light traffic. My favorite rest stop is at Rathdowney, good place to check things.
Woodenbong down to Kyogle, Casino the road improves, very scenic. We spent a few nights in Kyogle showground last year.
Casino to Tenterfield from Drake, the road climbs up the range with overtaking lanes and pull off areas. Near the Bonalba turn off there is a good rest area.
Tenterfield to Texas is mostly light down hill run with a good road.
Enjoy your drive. Cheers.
