Yay!! I finally have a surgery date! 20oth March will see me in the PA Hospital having most of the skin on my nose cut off, then a skin graft.
Scary, but after waiting almost a year, I want it done before it grows any more.

Thank you. I've been antsy to get out there for so long now. I've had a week away now and then but haven't been able to go far in case they phoned.
The rest of this poor body is relatively good at the moment so fingers crossed I get away in the Autumn.

It will be such a relief to get it over and done with Beth.
I'm sure it will go well, it has to, so you can get away again, and again, and again!

Good luck with the surgery Beth. I know how much you have been wanting to get this over and done with.
By the way, where do they take the skin from for the graft???

All the best Beth. They can do some amazing things these days with plastic surgery. The neighbour had skin taken from in front of her ears to close a hole in her eardrums. You'd never know they'd taken it. Thinking of you.

Good to hear that Mike.
I had my pre-op checkup on Friday. The staff were all lovely and explained everything to me very well. My sister is coming down from Tin Can Bay on Wednesday to play carer. That's a relief. I'm not so concerned about it now after a pep talk from Libby (Chaslib) and the hospital staff.
Three more sleeps.

Well I'm not a pretty sight at the moment, but who cares. It's finally done. And I hope I never have to go through that again.
They ended up giving me a general anaesthetic(no spell correct on phone). And they took the skin graft from my neck. I assume that was the best colour match. I was in post op for quite awhile because my blood pressure was quite low..under 100..and my oxygen level was low too. I just couldn't wake up, and the nurse kept coming by telling me to take some deep breaths and giving me drinks of water. When I finally did get up, I was quite wobbly on my feet. After walking with the nurse to the loo and getting dressed, my BP had gone up to normal.
My sister came to pick me up and stayed with me til Saturday. They put an extra heavy duty dressing on because I told them I cough alot and was concerned I'd blow the graft off!
Panadol is my friend and i also have antibiotics. I can't drive because my glasses don't sit where they're supposed to. So I'm feeling a bit grounded. I had some visitors yesterday, and my son is coming tomorrow, but I hope others visit during the week. I return on Friday to have the dressing off and stitches out.
So that's where I'm at now folks. Thanks again for your warm wishes.

Thanks for the update Beth. All over now and just recovery to happen. You will feel much better in a couple of weeks. Amazing how the body recovers.
It does take a while to recover from a general anaesthetic, makes you tired so enjoy all the Nanna naps you need.
cheers

The runny nose/cough problem got the better of me last night. So I'm taking an antihistamine to dry it up. Fell so much better tonight. I also have strong pain relief.
My second son came to visit today. Took me to the shops, and just hung around for awhile. He's taking me back to the hospital on Friday.
