Hi All, I guess this is technical. I have a new Thetford 365, how long does the napisan solution last in the bottom tank if left unused? If I carried the Thetford around for 3-4 weeks unused would it still be okay or would I have to replace solution or add a bit more napisan? Thanks

My limited knowledge of chemistry tells me that if the active ingredient(s) in Napisan have nothing to be active with (or react), they will still be as pure as the day they were poured in and waiting for you to add something to react with.
I suppose the proof is in the pudding.

Thanks Rob & Denis, I just wasn't sure if the Napisan solution would have a "shelf life" in a new Porta Pottie if wasn't used for a few weeks. I normally try to use whatever other facilities are available when traveling. Thanks.

Once you mix it with water I reckon it would have a short shelf life . I just drop a capfull of power in and let it mix as the loo is used . If it gets any smell I drop another capful in .

When I first got my van I had this thing about the toilet and how close I had to be to doses and the correct chemicals etc. I use the woolies select "napi san" as Im told it has more active ingredient and if it starts to pong I put in a few glugs of pine-o-clean. Problem solved. BTW a glug is 2 metric slurps.

Phil C - no need to add the pine o clean - just add another capful of the nappy soaker - takes the smells away - and I don't know if the pine o'clean might interfere with the action of the soaker. I wipe my bowl out with eucalyptus oil regularly, staying well away from the seals - keeps it fresh smelling.
I must say though, that if you are only using the loo for No 1's - pointless putting nappy soaker in, it is used to break up "product" including the paper, we very rarely use toilets other than our own - and have no problem with smells etc., adding the extra capful of soaker as needed!

At $3 per kilo from Red Dot stores you do not need to be frugal, use a good cap full for every
solid deposit (gee I am 'delicate' this morning heh heh) and you won't go wrong.
