This morning we went out to get the Honda 20i Genny
after considering we decided to buy the local dealer to keep supporting local busines
what would be a loss of 91 dollars to us
As per phone conversation we done the deal over the phone this week including the 200 dollar special Honda Gift Pack
But low and behold suddenly the deal was only until the end of january
so after an heated debate they missed out an deal
I just ordered the one I wanted delivered to the door

Some dealers are their own worst competition.
Repeat business is the name of the game even if sometimes
you may lose a percentage of your profit margin.

CC I had a similar thing happen to me here at base camp and when I said I will go elsewhere they just said go then, we can do without your business. A 30 minute drive I found the same thing cheaper and much friendlier service.
I like you CC try and keep my business local but with the attitude of some of the businesses here I don't mind going out of town now when I have too.

Same thing here in Leongatha Doug.We try to support the locals,but some are just not interested,in the past six months ,eight businesses have closed there doors in the main street.I wanted a new folding door for the motor home,$389.00 in town,same door $189.00 in Dandenong.....cheers Peter

Maybe a fault from Honda as well why can some dealer sell them for $1599 and the small local dealers for $1690
I the USA the same thing is for sale at $990 US

The United States power supply is 120 volt 60 cycles per second as compared to Australia's 240 volt 50 cycles per second.
Whilst some Australian devices that incorporate universal adaptors may run satisfactorily on a US generator, many appliances with motors, or heating elements will not.

CC, Honda's are not that noisy, you will notice it when you first use it but after a while you will think bugga that gennie has run out of fuel when you get up to have a look there it is running away as usual.

I was at the Newcastle caravan show some weeks back and I went to the Honda generator guy and said "I hear your generators are not noisy" more or less as a joke as one was already running but just idling. A woman walked in behind me and said "So did I. Turn everything on like it was fully used" and so the guy revved it up to full throttle. It was darned noisy! I wouldnt want to be near that at 1AM trying to sleep! Having said that, I dont suppose that you would be using it at 1AM or under full load most of the time anyway.
I often wonder if you could have a boot with slide out genny like many vans have but have a 12 volt fan in the boot and a grille door and be able to somehow turn it on electronically without opening that door simply because I have heard people find ways to turn generators off for you. I think they are trying to help you save money.... ;-}

These people are probably turning the generator off after 10pm because that would be the standard rest time for normal people. Sometimes the ignorant need some help.
I was at McKillops Bridge in the Snowy Mountain region when a NSW number plated 4wd turned up just on dark and fired the generator up. At 10.30 I asked for it to be switched off as National Park rules in Victoria is No Gennys between 10pm and 6am. Was told that he was having troubles with his fridges. It was over 35 degrees at 10.30pm.
I explained that if he was happy to run the generator at all hours, I have a habit of cutting firewood at 5.30am and, gee, look at that lovely piece right near your site. The genny was reluctantly turned off.
Fortunately I knew the Ranger in the area and he confirmed my action re switching off.
All generators make some noise and unfortunately, at night, that noise can be exacerbated. (That is a "7" word Vic)

ALL generators are noisy on full power, you only need full power to start an air con then you can turn it down, I have never had anybody start a gennie at that time of the night, there are some inconsiderate campers out there.

Good post Bob, I enjoy your informative posts, you are a mine of information. Yes, definitely a group "7" pay group word !
(any serving or ex RAAFies out there will know what we are talking about, the highest other ranks pay rate when I was in, a bit of a joke when someone used a big word). Not sure if they still use that pay rating system though.

Problem was Aus-Kiwi, it was a free camp site. The weather in December/January is always stinking hot and it was simply a case of it was too hot for the fridge to keep up with 4 people needing cold stuff from the fridge and his battery had given up the ghost.
If you ever get a chance and unfortunately you can't get caravans there, it is the most beautiful, idyllic spot to camp and spend a few lazy days but it is 300 odd lays from Bairs=nsdale the nearest large town so it is really isolated.
We have a genny, haven't needed to use it yet but consideration of other campers is also something that is in short supply with todays generation.
