We are currently in Murray Bridge for a couple of days before heading to Port Augusta and then WA. Anybody else nearby?
Would be nice to meet up with others along the way.

We're in Port Wakefield waiting for the makers to finish messing about with the van. Adelaide tomorrow but free for the rest of the week and hoping to be on the road by the weekend. Love to meet - send me a PM if you're available.

We're still in Mt Barker CP, if anyone's around the Adelaide Hills. There are some great coffee shops here...
Just had our new awning installed, after the other one was ripped off the side of the van while we were travelling between Murray Bridge and Mt Barker during Adelaide's recent bout of severe wind. And yes, it HAD been well secured, so I really don't know how it can happen. But it's great to have a 'verandah' again!

Wow that's scary Andrea. We were at Princetown during an overnight wind-storm, had everything as well secured as possible and our pop-top down. You can only do your best, maybe something in the attachments were a bit worn. Did insurance cover it?
Mr D is on a mission to get to WA before the weather cools in the south, so we're not staying long here. Wondered if anybody else was about to head west too.

Scary - yes! But the insurance did cover it, bar the $200 excess.
But an e-mail I got this morning mentioned a 5th-wheeler being rolled by a wind-storm in Huonville, Tassie, to land on its roof. I've not read anywhere about it yet, but the thought makes one shudder!

Hi Andrea, there is a place in Port Wakefield that makes canvas covers that go over the top of the awning when rolled up and zip up. They are permanently attached under the awning mounts so dont stop you using the awning once unzipped. They were designed because of all the damaged awnings that needed repair from passing roadtrains. Very good idea we thought. Could be worth while for peace of mind.

Shouldn't be hard to find, Port Wakefield is about as big as a postage stamp.
