We have a 12 volt Waeco 220 ltr. It is a fridge/freezer and has been in the van for 5 years without a problem.
Now you wait for all the experts who will swear that 12 volt only is crap. 3 way is the only way to go. Gas is cheap why worry about it. La dee day. You heard it here first. ETc. Etc
We will be buying a new van later this year and it will be having a Waeco 220litre 12 volt only main fridge and I am considering getting a 30 litre Waeco fridge drawer for under the Cafe lounge we will be getting instead of the L shape.

Hi Newbie. We have a 135 litre Dometic 12v fridge and it is A OK. Several advantages over 3 way in my opinion 1. You don't have to muck around levelling your rig up. 2. Inherently safer than gas. 3. Seems to use less power than 3 way fridges although this opinion is only formed from talking to fellow RVers and has no scientific basis. The only downside to it was having to install an extra 120 Ah battery to cover power needs as we largely run on solar. Never have dramas with freezing food in the top freezer and fridge runs very well at -3 even where our M/h is parked in 40+ direct sun. Cheers

Gday...
This site gives some idea on the different "types" of refrigerator ... hope it gives you some info you are looking for.
May not help you with actual brands to buy - but does describe the different 'methods'.
Cheers - John

Hi all we have been traveling this country all our married life 37years and in the early years the three way fridge was the way to go but then again so was the kero fridge same principal great stationary but dont like traveling dont like 12v huge power draw on 12v and really strugll in humid weather with out fans to help cool condensor where the 12-24 volt dont have to be level there power usage is very low and is a set and forget just like your home fridge. With battery back up and solar for me a much nicer way to go this is my opinion only hope that adds food for thought,

we had a 3 way fridge when we were novices at travel , but a couple of trips to the tropics (Qld ) and the old girl expired , new inards and new gas didn`t help , we went Waeco about 10/12 years ago 12/240V compressor fridge and not had a problem .
