G'day Jimbo, there is a really good paint which is waterproof and is a very good roofing insulator. Came a cross a couple who had it on their 5th wheeler, said the difference was great and it didn't leak in heavy storms any more. It's was called envircoat I think. There would be a number of others.
You could also use a 2 pack marine epoxy, they are waterproof and can be sprayed painted or brushed. We use them on our motorsailer, makes a huge difference to sealing our jarrah deck, compared to corking, or sixaflex.

I have a friend who painted his whole roof with a thermoshield paint. It's a rubberised coating and needed two coats to get a good coverage. It solved some niggling leaks as well as dropping the temp inside the vehicle. He reckons it's well worth putting extra around hatches and other fitting on the roof.
Killed two birds with one stone.
As with any other hi tech or different type of paint not cheap but it worked for him.

If you find one that permanently stops leaks after just painting it on patent it because you are on a winner..
You need to find where it is leaking and fix it... there are NO shortcuts..

Aus-Kiwi.....It would be so simple if I knew where the leak is I figured to paint the whole roof would be better in the long run...Got a feeling it could be around the Air Conditioner

Jumbo I had the same problem and painted the roof with a flexible paint that is used around shower bases before they lay the tiles and then put 2 coats white gloss top water based paint, all stocked at Bunnings. The gloss helps in reducing the heat from the sun. Not had a leak since.

I seem to remember on the old plywood vans that before painting and old van you located all the cracks, seams and questionable joints and then applied Aquadhere, waited till it was dry and then painted over it to seal it. The Aquadhere creeps into the cracks. Bondcrete would probably be the same.

the new regent i got years ago leaked in the air con the roof was dished
where a worker must have stood on the roof had to send it back to makers
to put new roof on with extra stiffeners in it done under warranty
After one coat I applied some Sikoflex where we thought there could be leak issues.. YES around air conditioner and joints ..
We saw some spray on rubber out of can but we already had some Sikaflex, so we use it before it went hard..
Cannot paint over normal silicon ..
The Killrust paint goes on very thick with roller and brush method..Mates grandfather showed us this technique
Sounds like back yard job which it definitely was .. The next day which was quite sunny and hot we couldn't believe how well it looked..

Regent Paints also make a Heat (Thermal) Reduction type paint Called "Heatguard" which ends up similar to a thick flexible coating ( needs two coats on a clean painted surface or if on fibreglass the surface has to be cleaned and a primer applied first then the two coats. Helps with sealing problem areas. I have had this product on our van and ute canopy since 2008 without any problems. Also available in different colours.
Cheers Kev
