Today decided it was time the JCs saw some NZ highlights. So it was an early start with first stop Thames. Then we followed the coast road (likened by JC to The Great Ocean Road). This took us to Coromandel township. Over the ranges we went to Whitianga where we had fush and chups aka fish and chips. Leonie is still raving about the quality of the meal. On the way home we introduced them to Lemon and Paeroa a drink "world famous in New Zealand" We will buy some for them and maybe they will let the Ozzies know what they think of it.
To finish the day off Brandt just HAD to have some water melon on the roadside at Pauanui!!!
Wow, those fush n chups look yummy indeed. Now I must say I am very disapointed in Mr Kiwi cos he didn't break out the camp oven but I spose the water melon was healthier and he does have a reputation for yummy water melon too.
That second pic Mrs Kiwi looks nearly as nice as Greens Lake.
It looks as though NZ is agreeing with Jim and Leonnie too.

Ah the Coromandel, used to be our favorite holiday destination, in the sixties and seventies you could stop and camp any where.
Was there 3 years ago Whitianga, used to just one store with a huge camping area at Bufalo beach. WOW! it's now a city.
Remember wh in Maori is F ..Fitianga / Fongamata for example..
Where is still where though !!!Aha..

Yes, Hot Water Beach, Hahei, Black Jack rd Simpsons beach. Been all over the Coromandel.
No fish n chip shop when we used to go, but you could catch a boatload off Bufalo beach. Trolling for Tuna and Kingies around the Mercs.
No Fitianga then also.

Was just about to ask if that was the area where one would find Hot Water Beach but the question has been answered. We were fascinated by that beach when we visited NZ many years ago. cheers Capricorn
