Today was the first shake down trip for us. Ballarat north to Laancoorie for a couple of nights. Didn't get any greyer so all ok!!!!
Aussie Paul.
Learning curve is steep, learning something new every 5 mins. Power went off this morning and it was warm enough to uses the aircon!! I thought what have I done, but it was off all around the district... Had to jack one side up after realising shower, sinks would not empty. I picked the wrong site!!!! So got the Pajero jack out and put a brick under each of the low wheels. A bit green we are!!!! New hoses etc so I didn't roll the waste one out and had air bubbles etc.

Well done Paul. You are out in the playground and set up.
Can I suggest you unroll that power lead fully when in use to save potential heat build up in the lead and try to keep it up out of the water area.
You can get plastic wheel chocks and levellers that will make that levelling much easier.
Enjoy your travels, it will get easier each time you go out.

Just noticed the second pic, silly me. You can put that awning to a light angle to the back of the van to let water run off.
The biggest thing I noticed was, there is no wine or beer on that table, that is a real sin Paul.

Paul, make sure your van is level otherwise you may run into trouble with your fridge. Not sure how much angle you can get away with. Maybe someone here might enlighten us.

Hi Paul and all. Mate now you know how that feller felt when he stepped onto the moon. The only thing you have to do now is enjoy the experience of life on the road. Don't worry about the odd stuff up because we all have the T shirt for that. The only blokes who never got the T shirt have never done anything. Good luck and we look forward to catching you somewhere down the track. Cheers.

When we had the van, tp level it up, carried a couple of blocks of wood - one about 25mm high and one about 50. They were a bit wider across than the width of the tyre, and about 40 cm long - we only had a single axle van. Could use the same idea and make longer for twin wheels. We could tow the van up onto the lower block. If we needed to use the higher one, put the shorter piece crosswise to form a front "step". Worked fine for us, for years, and was easy to stow in van boot.
Now we have the bus, have plastic ramps - but they take up a lot more room to store.

Life in a level caravan is easier... this helps when setting up. Yes we use a set of levelling ramps and chocks, and they're great!
