So you have only been there in the heat of summer? I lived there for 3 years and we had wonderful cool winters, the occasional frost, and some rain. Maybe you are talking more about the centre and north of WA????

I lived in most States and now I wouldn't live anywhere else but Perth Spida and agree with your statement, we just had a great GTG down south/east and usually hotter at this time of the year there than Perth, but the weather gods smiled on us and you couldn't pick better weather.
We just had a brief shower here in Perth, wouldn't you know it I just watered the garden, but it could do with some more. Great Pommie joke Hendo about up north, like the other states up north and south weather varies at different times of the year.
It reminds me of a bloke from NSW I met on the Nullabor, he was complaining bitterly about how he went to the south/west and all it did was rain all the time. He had gone south in the middle of winter, but apparently it doesn't rain in the south of NSW or other states at that time of the year.
All States have extreme weather conditions in most parts during the year.
Funny little story though Kiwijims, noticed your winks at the end of it

Think I had better clear up one thing,
The statement regarding the heat in Perth wasn't written by me,
I received it from an Aussie friend who likes to take the Mickey out of us Kiwi's.
I have lived here in Perth since the early 80's and have called it home since then,
even after all this time, I still find it hard to cope with high humidity and the 40 + deg temps,
sure can get on any-ones nerves, after a couple of months.
We got a bit home sick thinking of the snow on the mountains about 12 months ago so,
off to Victoria we went in the middle of last winter, only got as far as Crystal Brook in South Australia,
"Darn near froze" we stayed a week and headed back to the West....... "To Hell With the Snow"

Yeh I notice a lot of Kiwi's living in Perth now KJ, don't know how much is part economical or the warmer weather though.
We have a relative living here, works in Perth, has also worked up north and around Kalgoorlie in the mines, loves it, his parents come over from NZ regularly to holiday etc.
Perth/WA doesn't have a monopoly on 40+ degree days and in some places humidity, even Melbourne (among other states) cop them as well. In the lower states I found the humidity in Sydney and surrounds hard to take when I was living there, and of course the tropics go without saying, it is to be expected there. I have noticed though that since more bushland has been cleared around Perth for housing it has been rising in the metro area as well.
Perhaps in retrospect the original topic may have been better in I Digress or the Joke section instead of General however I still enjoyed the post and the later one by Hendo, if we can't laugh at ourselves then all is lost.
Keep up the good posts...
PS: I have noticed as we get older we find it harder to cope with the heat and humidity....
