I left Deepwater early and Rod caught up in Tenterfield whilst I was getting a gas refill, dropped a lefty and headed for Casino. At Tabulam just passed the bridge there is a sign for Tabulam Road with no more directions but that is the road to take to Urbenville and 6kms south west is Tooloom Falls our destination.
I had looked up suitable camping sites north from Deepwater and found Tooloom Falls, coincidentally Rod had heard good reports of it and had marked it in his Camps Book as a place to visit. It turns out to be a good spot for a few days camping with a drop toilet and little else but hey the views are great, just a trickle coming over the falls but would look spectacular after the rains.
So here we are but without phone or internet, Urbenville is only 6kms away and we can hopefully get internet there. Not worried about the phone the only ones likely to ring will see the forum post or the blog and realize that I am out of range. Very tired now, I had just walked over the spillway and thought that I could get back by walking round and coming in the back way???..arrived back over the spillway 3 hours later.

Just cooked a frozen meal in the microwave for the first time and monitored the voltage carefully with Rod watching a USB digital voltage reader. Started out at 12.6 volts then started the motor and the inverter/microwave, used the recommended 3 minutes then stir and another 1 minute all at high. Turned off everything and by the time I had eaten the meal I had 12.5 volts registering, all in all a good result and an enjoyable meal.
I hope you're not prone to sleepwalking, John. Lovely spot though and one for the list.

Hey John, I really like Tooloom falls having stayed there on both my trips up north last year and will certainly be back there. When i was there last in June the falls were raging. The road north from there is a beautiful drive but beware it has steep grades and narrow corners. a bit like from Bellingen to Dorrigo if you have been that way. There were some good spots beside the road for overnight

Beautiful spot John! loved it there....interesting to see theres not a lot of water in it now.
Been exploring today and found a way down to the base of the falls, there are several footpaths created and we followed some to get to the bottom of the falls. There is a fine swimming area down just past the base of the falls where the water is much clearer above it needs a flush out and badly needs rain.
We have been keeping an eye on the happenings in Queensland about the cyclones and may stay here rather than get caught up in the rainy weather up there. We are just over in the NSW border and in good weather, sunny but not too hot, excellent for the solar panels.
Getting a bit flash now put the microwave on this morning and had porridge, I have come the full circle now because I started out with a microwave expecting to stay in caravan parks with 240 volts. It got sold off in Esperance along with the push bike and stand.
Sunday morning and I had been told that platypus feed around the base of the falls so I was up early and on the top looking down, sure enough I was able to see, but too far to photograph, a platypus swimming and feeding. So now I have seen the elusive mammal at Eungella National Park in North Queensland, Hamilton Common and Scottsvale in Tasmania now here in NSW. How good is that?
I was shown a couple of photos of the falls last February in full spate and I was able to photo them to post here, photos of photos don't always come out too well but I have tried. What a spectacle it must have been and I was told that it was hard to sleep, it sounded like constant trains passing. John

Wow! thanks for those photos John! Even as it was in my photo the falls were noisy.
We only went there because at the time Urbanville camp-ground was a muddy mess, people had been bogged, left huge holes. Think next time we're up that way it'll be Tooloom falls every time instead of Urbanville.
Woodenbong showground is ok but also very soggy if it has rained a lot.

Steve the bus takes the hills in it's stride better than the Hi Ace. Look forward to catching up later.
Paul had never been there before but it is all in the Camps books and recommendations from fellow travellers.

Hi there, yes a great spot, keep your eye out for the black snakes up stream through the fence, there are a lot of platypus upstream of the weir/crossing, plus don't be surprised when the local Aborigines come out for a visit it is a Sacred Site the Elders are OK if your doing the right thing the younger ones will leave a mess BUT whats new.
