No ... 'cause my son is a computer technician - network administrator - and has a computer shop where he repairs and builds pooters.
He has yet to tell me W8 is "ready" for the general public to use as it is a pain ... he really hates it when someone comes in with a pooter running W8.

What I'm getting at is all of the reports I've heard about how poorly it performs have been hearsay, nothing from people using the OS.
Comments from people running Windows 8 would be of interest, in particular what it is that they dislike about it.

I use it and have no complaints, mind you, I do bypass the home screen and use the older win 7 type desktop.

I've had Win 8 on my desktop, which is my main work computer as well as my regular home machine, for a year and have had no problems, especially using the Classic shell to make it look and perform more like Win 7. Have just upgraded my laptop to Win 8.1 but haven't used it enough to find any issues (using it right now as the fringes of Cyclone Dylan have knocked out our power!)

I use windows 8 and find that it takes a little bit longer to work out ..I don't blame the program I think that it is just that I am a slow learner..Just retired and will now have the time hopefully to work it all out..Human nature tells us that it needs to be done now ,but not always the case. Purserverence is I think the key ..Good luck to all windows 8 users..Mongrel

Had a play with it a couple of weeks ago Mongrel, everything you need seems to be there, and works just as well as it always has, as you say anything new takes a little getting used to.
Seems a lot of users are choosing to use the Win 7 type desk top, more like what they are accustomed to.

Please excuse my computer ignorance, but could someone please explain how i get Windows 7 desk top screen onto the windows 8 ??
My 89 year old Dad went into DS and they sold him the windows 8 saying it was very easy to use!! I nearly had a meltdown trying to
set the thing up for him.

I have been using W8 now for some time - I installed Start8 at a cost of $5 to get the old start menu on a laptop and have no complaints. I also have an iMac which I would not swap for 100 windows computers! My W8 is a back up and travel computer so I don't ask that much of it.
