something gone wrong with the site, I used to be able to just insert the page link and now I have to use HTML tags to display a link.

Greyed out means it will not work. Sorry, I don't know why, or how to correct it. Why not just Copy and Paste the Link ?
Cheers,
Sheba.

The grey Link button remains ghosted until you highlight the text you wish to use to announce the link. You can not use the keyboard to highlight the text, you must use the mouse.
When you have highlighted the text you can click on the Link button. This then brings up a dialogue box where you can insert the URL for your link (I prefer to copy and post it into the box.) After you have inserted the URL I suggest you also set the Target to "Open link in new window." Now click on Insert. If you set the link up that way when someone clicks on it the link will open in a new Tab. That means you can click between the two tabs if you need to wish to go back and forward between the new page and the thread.

thanks PeterD, normally I just used to post copy/paste the link and it came up underlined in the post, now it is doing the same thing but the underline does not show until I put my cursor on the link so all is fixed now looks like it may have been a program change from the web site Cindy uses.
