We are currently staying at the motorhome park in Port Augusta. The parking area is behind the sports club and has a dump point and water available. During the past two weeks that we have been here we were shocked to see the amount of people who pull into the area to empty their toilet cassettes and then drive off without paying the very reasonable fee of $3. There is a sign advising users of the cost and that they hope that people are honest when it comes to paying. These dump points cost to install and should not be treated as a god given right to use.
The dump point is maintained well and is always cleaned by the club caretaker and I for one would not like to see this and other dump points disappear all because some people refuse to pay a very reasonable fee.
The cost per night is $7 reduced to $5 if you stay a week.
What do you all think???????

We used that dump point robcer, and put our money in the tin - it was pretty empty, could hear the coins rattling at the bottom of the tin - and this was in the afternoon.

Thanks for speaking out, Robcer. The more those cheapskates and thoughtless types are criticized for their behavior the more likely the message will sink into their thick skulls. They know who they are, and they need to know that they're being watched.

We stayed at the motorhome park several times as we wandered SA in 2012. At no time was there a charge (or signage of a charge) for the dump point. Only charge for o/night stopover.

Got slugged $10 in Canberra for using a dump point in a caravan park down the road. The park we stayed at didn't have one.

Maybe they have recently put the coin box and sign there, Dunmowin, it was there when we came through in September 2013.

Do you have more info, eg address of the Motorhome park (if they take humble caravans). We usually stay at a caravan park on Northside from memory(westside??) Railway line opposite the water.
