Yes had a little trip out today & dropped in to Karuah, NSW. Havent passed through there since the Hwy bypass many moons back.
The little town was very quite even looks like they maybe struggling a bit.
We saw two M/homes & a c/van parked up in the riverside picnic area in mermorial st.beside the river at the end of the bridge.
Spoke to two of them & both had stayed over night with no problems. Wiki camps lists it as a day time area , I think the town would be happy with any dollar that they could get & its only 4kl off the Hwy.
Next stop was the riverside park at Bulahdelah, south side of river & there were 9 m/h & c/v set up there with very nice river views.
No facilities on that side of river but there is a good park with them in town, however there looks like a new amenities block built at the northern end of the bridge right on the L/H side of the main rd, so walking distance.
Have heard they are trying to entice people back into town & thats a good start.
Back home by 5.00pm just in time to clock off.

Stayed at the river park at Bulahdelah for the Melbourne Cup last year. Had a great time at the pub. The town appears welcoming to travelers & reaping the benefits (unlike Karuah). Can't remember how many or which of the towns that are affected by a highway bypass on the way down the coast are now actively welcoming travelers, but all could take a leaf out of Bulahdelah's book.

Two caravan parks had the rest stop downgraded to daytime in Karuah. Good friend of mine owns a motel there, Lucky he has a quid cause he thinks he bought a 20 bedroom house
There is a free stop halfway between Raymond Terrace and Karuah
