Do the Bunnings blue drinking water hoses taint your water. I have been told by some yes they do but by others no. They are a good $10 cheaper than the caravan shop ones and as we need two I could save over $20. We do have a water filter in the van and I also thought I would probably carry spring water for the kettle anyway but I was curious to whether I bite the bullet and get the dearer ones or not.

I have 2 of them and I have never had any problem with them..
Mind you I'm not a big water drinker but my morning coffee always tastes great as does the little water I do drink on hot days....

I have two lengths as well and no problem with the taste, also use an inline filter that I got off ebay so all good there as well.

No problems with mine either,,, but they can struggle with higher pressures at some parks,, so now buy the white reinforced ones.
Blue ones are easier to wind up than the heavier reinforced ones.

Beware, the BLUE hoses are NOT rated for mains pressure water - they are only suitable for water transfer under gravity, i.e. transferring from a portable container to your underfloor tank.
For mains pressure you need the WHITE hoses - that's why the caravan shops sell them !

Let's think about this for a moment...........cost of caravan =$$$$$$$. Cost of a suitable mode of transport to move the caravan while traveling =$$$$$$$. Cost of fuel to use while traveling =$$$$$$$. Cost of the proper hose as compared to the cheaper one = next to nothing.

I've got a 20 metre white Bunnings water hose....cut it in two and join it if we need it longer. Cost about $40 .....no taste in the water.

Let some water flow through hose before topping up tanks..
I find the water in hose over time becomes tainted..

All I know about hoses, and I assume we are talking about the garden variety, is that in the past I've always purchased the cheapie green one. However they don't seem to last too long so my last purchase was the black one, which in price, was top of the range. Seems to be holding out ok. I don't drink water from my tank, and I usually only fill from a town water supply. I always carry 2 x 10 liter plastic cans for that purpose except on the rare occasion I make tea, I'll use tank water because it is boiled.

We have 2 blue Bunnings hoses and never had a problem with taint or water pressure. We also have a white caravan shop one and one of those fold flat ones on a reel that we can connect together if we have a distance to the tap when filling tanks.(we have lots of room for storage!!) We have an inline filter outside and a filter tap inside with a double filter set up in the cupboard for drinking water. Depending on where we are, sometimes the hose is left connected to van or just used for filling tanks only and put away when not needed.

We use food grade reinforced hoses for all our plumbing and refilling, not expensive and long life for the road.

The blue ones that I got from Camec 15 years ago are now mostly white from the sun.
No taste or pressure problems.

I was going to buy one of those canvas hoses that wind up in a cassette ., those bloody plastic ones do my head in. They cost more but make life easier. Any one have opinion of them

Bought a Bunnings hose in WA 2012
No where near the quality of the white hose, Kinks & twists. It will work out more expensive as I throwing it out to replace with a good quality one.

I bought a Bunnings white "food grade" hose a few years ago. The first hot day & it burst. I cut the burst section out & it burst again. I threw it out & bought a top grade, garden variety hose. Gerber brand I think? No problems since.
So my opinion of the white hoses from Bunnings is that they are rubbish. Might be ok if you don't use them on hot days?

Anything you buy from a caravan shop will have a higher markup than the larger hardware stores .
