Left Gooloogong early and arrived in Parkes late morning, had an anxious drive having forgotten to fill up petrol. Fortunately made it but I had a reserve ready for the generator if the worst happened. The festival officially began today Wednesday but not much was happening, the shops were cashing in on the Elvis theme and there were a few buskers plying their wares. I went to the Post Office to pick up an electric 12 volt fan from Whitworths.
Found the information office and bought a festival guide for $5 and asked where the Pioneer Oval and Spicers Caravan Park were to be found. Checked in and made camp and studied the guide, the shuttle bus timetable was listed as well as all the local businesses who put on various Elvis acts for as much as they could charge for them. Fortunately there are free shows on at the Cooke Park starting from Friday morning.
I had planned for a trip on the shuttle bus on Thursday to soak up the ambience of the festival followed by a movie at the library but Wednesday night it started to rain heavily and it is just lifting now on Thursday afternoon. Will go for a walk into town soon to pick up a few things, need electrical wire to fit the new fan. The fridge freezer is working well and now achieved -12 and cycles back from -7
The new batteries are having a solid work out with the fridge freezer and the fridge, all well but the rainy days have seen the generator running for 1.5 hours yesterday and now they are recording 12.5 volts and still raining. Not much solar power today so the genny will get another work out. So how to use the genny and also attend the festival? Looks like an hour top up whilst I shower and get ready and hope it is enough.
Went to Cooke Park via the shuttle bus, $15 for as much travel as needed or $4 per trip, took the $15 option, Looked around the festival markets and walked the main street watching the buskers then listened to the acts on the main stage. Went to the library to watch an Elvis Movie then caught a shuttle bus back to the camp. Had my photo taken with not one Elvis but two. Had a few people look at me funny could be the tee shirt or the long hair. Still more to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 John

Thanks for the shots John, keep them coming and the info on the event.
You might have to buy an Elvis T Shirt so you don't get those funny looks with the Bob Marley one, don't think the long hair would be the reason.
