Well that proved little, main focus on the hire units & not our own population.
Where's these councils, not game to show their face's, just make up new rules & hide in a office.
As for wearing out the welcome, seems one night is too much .
As for park owners, how can they try to dictate to you when we are not on their property????????? Imagine if all other business's done that.
Many have sold out to mines; others do not have sites as they have geared up for mine workers.
The more they carry on the more we will reject them, they need to get over it & produce something that is affordable.
they must have failed maths, only need to have a look at the pension per day verses their rates per day; simple.

Well with the attitude shown of the Casino Caravan Park on the show they are off my list.
All businesses in town suffer if GN's do not stay there it was mentioned on the program? Yes, other business's in town (fuel/food/clothing etc) do very well out of Grey Nomads IF the town is RV friendly and has low cost or other sites for them to stay, or fair priced caravan parks suitable for GN's, like has been mentioned by others, it is the CP's and Councils that drive GN's to go elsewhere that ruins it for other businesses in town. All because of short sighted policies and decisions by the towns council's and excessive caravan park tarrifs....

Simple really ?? This is a big, big, big country, some towns welcome us, ?? some towns don't ?? and some of the best places are nowhere near towns anyway. So support the welcoming towns, and especially the smaller country towns, But the towns that do not welcome the traveller, just don't go there,. Parks like Big4 Casino, DO NOT cater for the travelling nomad anyway, and do not need our $$$$ they are however the Cause of lost revenue to every other type of business in that town, They councils do not pay any attention to what the nomad ''bodies;; say, so don't waste your breath, ?? It should beALL the other businesses in town Telling the councils,, HEY hang on a minute, Caravan Parks are NOT the only business in town ?? so how about a fair go for all, All stories like this one on telly, do for me, is to add them to my list of '' Don't Stay There !! IF there is area's of interest in the surrounding area, ? well I will find a smaller town with in the area, and venture out from there, And they can have my $$$$ instead ??

A couple in a bus, a few hire motorhomes, probably o/seas tourists and a story about.......nothing!
Remember....TV non-ratings period!
Bleeding heart franchise caravan park owners don't get my dollars.
If these c/p owners catered to the majority, not the go as fast and as far as you can in a day brigade, they might get my patronage.
The best c/parks we stayed in were privately owned, such as Waterloo CP Elliston SA, Orbost CP Vic, Fraser Range Station WA, Peoples' Park Coral Bay WA, 80 Mile Beach Wa, and a few others.
The worst was an overcrowded, so-called c/park (dirty campground), in the south of WA run as a franchise of a major chain.
We wrote a letter outlining our disappointment to the owners and CC to the chain on the 15th Feb 2013....still no response from either!
We won't be using that chain again.
Off again in 2 weeks!

The Casino Big4 park is probably one of the best parks around, it is only managed by by Big4, it is owned by CMCA, site fees were $19 per night last time I stayed there, all the facilities are top notch, there is a happy hour every afternoon, swimming pool, club house, games room pool tables etc,Mens shed, disc bowling green, large sites some separated by a hedges.
Before you dismiss this park, sight unseen, go and stay one night then you can make your own judgement.
CMCA is very supportive of free camping and is working very actively throughout Australia with Councils and Government to provide more facilities in towns all over the country for Grey Nomads to stay at either free or at low cost.
Cheers

Rates have gone up a bit since you were there David, see;
My understanding was that the CMCA had sold the park, but a CMCA member may like to clarify this one way or the other.
I notice that they are dog friendly which is good for pet owners.
I would not stay there purely on the anti free camping comments by the Park owner or manager on a mostly Australian wide TV program.
If that is their attitude I am not interested in staying there.

Hi Vic 41
Big4 have certainly jacked up the rates in less than 2 years, I probably wouldn't stay there again at those prices, that is over a 50% increase can be no justification for that price increase as it wasn't Big4 that created this park, as far as I know they had just taken over management, someone else might have a better knowledge of the situation, the management of this park seemed to be quite competent before Big4 took over.
Cheers

No worries David, Big4 don't actually own or run Big4 parks as far as I know, my understanding is that the owners or managers pay Big4 to be part of the Big 4 Group, in return they get put on the Big 4 directories (hard copies and online) I think they have to be able to meet certain standards and provide certain services to belong to the Big 4 group, yes Big 4 members get discounts but the owners of the parks just increase their prices to cover the cost of being Big 4 members. Top Tourist and other group parks (eg; Oz parks) also have a similar system.
Someone with more knowledge than me may like to elaborate on that.

I believe that Casino is more or less a purpose built specialised park; this being the case then it has no comparasion to the general run of the mill c/parks which are over the top in prices .
