1822 would have to be Sarah Island. A great place to visit now but I wouldn't like being there those days.

Currently watching "Against the Wind" series, and its probably been glossed over a bit, but gee those poor buggers who came to Australia as convicts had it hard.

If you haven't already, you should get down to Port Arthur Gerty, that's a real eye opener and very emotional when looking at the massacre area.

Yep, did that in the 80's (another massacre since then), also spent a day at the Coal-mine part ... horrifying that humans could treat each other in that way. Sara Island in Macquarie Harbour is also beautiful as scenery but can you imagine conditions for a convict wearing shackles!
