Good move, there will probably be a few councils following this approach, they are beginning to realise where their tourist money really comes from and the need to bring more people to their area. What's the bet the van parks kick up a real stink, not realising they could benefit from such a move if they used their brains.

Sounds good to me. I think all showgrounds should be opened up Aus wide.

With so many small towns being bypassed with new hwy's they need to do somwthing to bring people back into the area's
We were bypassed earlier this year , when we are at home we take notice each time we are down town as to how many travellers are comming in & its surprising.
The show ground has been open to campers for sometime now & there's quite often a few vans in there.

Problem is with primitive campgrounds in showgrounds, some areas charge nearly as much as a CP and have poorer facilities and not a great outlook, no river, lake etc.
A proposal is under way to create a new Free Camp Site at Mullumbimby Showground, northern NSW.
