Has anyone had any experience of the Spot Connect, advertising details below.
Today's smartphones provide a level of social connection far beyond what we imagined just a few years ago. But when you go beyond the reach of the grid, your smartphone needs the help of SPOT Connect to keep you in touch with friends, family, and emergency personnel. Simply pair your smartphone with SPOT Connect, and get connected to a global satellite network that lets you send messages and GPS coordinates from virtually anywhere on the planet. Update Twitter and Facebook. Send email and text messages. Request non-emergency help from professional service providers. And in the case of a critical emergency, send an SOS message requesting emergency assistance.

Sounds like a good idea but I remember looking at the thing and thinking, Yup half the price of a Govt Subsidised sat phone but with your sat phone you can keep your prepaid time for emergencies for a fair while before buying new time. With this system and please correct me if I'm wrong you have to have a monthly plan as well as the spot connect unit.

You need a server for the phone, and your internet,
The phone becomes the server and you can then run your internet on your Ipad through your phone,
The phone must have a spot included on it,
Thats how the G/F's worked,
Turn her phone on, connect the Spot, and then use her Ipad and the internet, Its very Exy if you run over your Data limits on your Plan,
