I am a new member and I was wondering if any other member had any info on Led Spot/Driving lights especially the bar type

I have a 120 w light bar I use in conjunction with my main beems. it is not a long beam only about 80 meters but does a great job of lighting up the verges and lay buys. We find it really good for spoting wild life before it jumps in front of you,and finding camp spots after dark. Landy

Some of the new Spotlight-Driving lights are really good and better than the light bars re distance. At a Price, some above the $500 mark each. There is some confusion re the light bars though. I have a mate who paid around $750 each for his LED driving lights and is very pleased with the distance and he reckons they seem to make things sharper at night.
Some States regard them the same as driving lights, Must be in pairs and only connected on high beam. Some light bars come in one piece but have a divider in the middle so classify as a pair in some States.
There really need to be a national standard so you are covered State to State

Beware of some from Ebay that aren't waterproof. The'll fog up inside after a few months and can be a bugger to seal properly.

Not sure about all states but the Australian design rules for mounting lights requires that driving lights can not be mounted higher that the original lights that come from the manufacture . Seeing more vehicles getting around with driving / spot lights mounted on roofs shooter bars and on top of roo bars.
Driving lights can't be used during the day apparently the rules state that they can only be used in fog /dust and once the hazard has gone they must be turned off.
Mrs Wombat almost got fined when believing she was following the govt sponsored "light up and live campaign" and was pulled over for having her factory fitted driving lights on during the day. Also it is illegal to have lights other than white on the front of a vehicle so many getting around with blue strip lights and never pulled up.
If you ask anyone in the RTA what's the go with mounting after market lights get it in writing it seems to vary from copper to copper.
