Ladies and Gents, does anyone have any top tips for keeping a GPS fixed to the windscreen??? We have a Garmin Nuvi (great GPS) and a Mercedes Sprinter MH. Can I keep the GPS fixed to the windscreen? Yes, but for only one minute before it falls off! I know the Garmin has a reputation for having a weak suction/spring clip on the cradle, but does anyone have any tips (aside from gluing the ****&%^$ thing to the windscreen?
Cheers in advance!

We were having a bit of trouble with this and I got stuck into the windscreen with a Scotch pad and that helped, short of that you can buy replacement mounts on eBay for next to nothing..
One more thing I just remembered when I saw the type of mount it is..
I cut a piece of cardboard and put under the leaver where it lifts the suction cap to make it stick so it puts more pressure on the cap to make it hold..

Try sticking it on with a small bit of silastic ,it sets like rubber and will remove easy,I had trouble with my cb mike holder doing the same thing silastic has done the job .

My Garmin comes loose occasionally and when I re-stick it, I make sure the area where it is to go is clean, the suction is clean and then I dampen the suction before putting it back on. It seems to come loose more in the hotter weather, but not that often and no more so than my previous GPS of a different brand.

Exactly what Loki said from me too. My Navman My75 used to react the same as his, and the same remedy sorted it. My Navman My Escape seems to have a mount that stays put though.

We have the same unit.
When it was mounted on our trike windscreen clear silicon was used.
Never came off with all the bouncing & buffeting on the trike.
We are using the same unit in the 4x4.
We found that it would give way overnight in winter.
Got the clear silicon onto it & it has not moved.

Made the link clickable. $20 - $30 doesn't seem too expensive if it works and probably a little less permanent than the clear silicone option

I guess they must be the same cheap ones that Garmin and TomTom sell with their GPS becoz they give in after a very short time..
I guess thats why we need to buy new ones and I have had less trouble with the $4.95 ones than I had with the one that came with the unit..

I Never stick any of my GPS units to the windscreen, they can cause a blind spot
and they also leave a telltale mark on the screen for would be thieves,
even if the unit is not on the screen at the time, the mark is often still there
this tells thieves,it may be in the car.
I mount mine in a cradle mounted on the dashboard vents where I can see it

I did not pay anything like that for shipping, can't you bypass the fedex?
there is a guy in the us that will purchase any item for you and then post it by the cheapest method, but I do not have the info with me as we are away and it's on my desktop system at home, if you send a pm in about two weeks time I will be home then and be able to give you his contact info

IT's OK mate, if you're parked at a shopping centre car park, chances are there'll be a dozen more still mounted on the screen in surrounding cars. The nasty lowlife thieven umm whatshisname will pick one of them.
