Friends of ours are currently staying at the Moonta Bay van park with their dog, as they do every year around this time.
They have been informed that in the near future there will be a $5 per night charge for dogs, not sure if this is a money grab or an attempt to discourage dog owners from staying there.

I will not stay anywhere that will charge me for my dog. Don't mind paying a bond that you get back when you leave but charging for a dog no way. I bet the dog does not get to use the amenities. If I was your friend I would not stay there again.

Let me see.... I would pay for facilities like......... a dog pool, dog bathing facilities, laundry facilities to wash rugs and towels etc, dog sitting service, fenced free run area, free dog poo bags, and sufficient garbage bins.

Just last week I purchased 150 biodegradable dog poo bags ($8) that fit my dispenser for when I am out walking the dogs around the neighbourhood, playing in the off-lead dog park, or at obedience school, and for when we go camping, ie anywhere outside our own backyard. These are the only plastic bags we use other than the garbage bin liners.

I suspect that it's probably a realistic fee that reflects the trouble that the park has had with dog owners. Let's be honest, no business, other than the vet, welcomes your dog on their premises, so why should caravan parks be any different? Just be happy that there are parks that will tolerate your dog, at whatever price. In fact if I didn't have a dog of my own, I would avoid dog friendly parks.
