We have nearly run out of Bio-Magic and need the recipe for the replacement. The last 4 litre cost $75.00 so it is becoming expensive. My wife has purchased the The Woolies/Select brand Boost but we need to know the details for its use please. Had already bought this but trying to be smart and save time, made enough for 4 changes but it nearly exploded in the bottle. Gave the idea away while we Bio-Magic but my wife used the bottle of boost.

We gave up buying expensive stuff,,, use Pine O Clean Eucalyptus,,, about $5 a bottle. Needs to be Eucalyptus not standard version.

Woolies have a home brand,, was about $1.20 for 2 litres, but not as good as POC.

Home Brand nappy soaker - now called Laundry Soaker and Inwash Booster at Woolies - around $3 for 1kg - cheap as, works a treat - a capful into an empty cassette (please rinse thoroughly to get all traces of the chemical stuff out) - then a capful as needed - some people do every day, but it is up to you - it takes the odours away and breaks up the product in the cassette, including the paper, into an almost liquid state, easy to dispose of.

The active ingredient is sodium percobonate - the higher amount the better - on this one it states 346 g/kg(this equates to approx. 34%). No need to use special paper, but I found the cottonelle ones do not break down as easily as a two ply.

If you have a partially full cassette, and are driving, after sitting for a day or so, the motion in the vehicle will make the breakdown work rapidly, can get a bit smelly - just put another capful in - voila! smells gone.

Other home brands work as well - but ensure that the sodium percobonate ingredient is over 30%. The real "Nappy San" has only about 26% - dearer, and does not work in this application as well.

I put a few drops of eucalyptus oil into the flush water sometimes, and also clean the bowl with eucy - pleasant smell!

We will watch this thread with interest becoz we are also over the expensive additives..

Some friends don't use anything but empty their cassette every 3rd day..

I believe there are other homemade concoctions that people use..

Hako - we are in a motorhome, so close to our loo - when we are driving the movement stirs up the "product", and we can smell it, so I just put another capful of nappy soaker in - problem solved - this is with the flap thing closed - and ONLY when driving.

If, on opening the flap, at other times to use the loo - if it has a bit of odour, we put some nappy soaker in then. Usually only every two or three days - probably depends on what we have been eating

Jules - excuse my ignorance but when you say 'smelly', is this only noticed when you open the flap to do a job or is it present at other times.

Have been using the no name nappy soak for around 3yrs having tried almost every type of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ stuff. I have also installed a SOG toilet ventilation system from Aussie Traveller. When you open the flap a small fan is turned on which sucks air through the flap and exhausts via a filter to the outside of the van. Even when using the toilet for solids there is no smell. Great investment

We have been using BOOST from Woolies.   Around $5 for a container.   It has 35% of the active ingredient, Sodium Percarbonate.   Three dessert spoonsfuls mixed in warm water and placed into the bottom tank does the job.   It lasts longer if you travel, as travelling aerorates the mixture.   If you are static you may have to top it up or empty the tank and refresh.

Boost is like nappysan, in the same section and the container is purple in colour.   It sticks out like your dogs jewels.
