Glendale 18 ft van (single axle) built late 1960s (I think) with a Ford Falcon XP wagon. Van was secondhand in 1973. Had this when we started work, sold 1975.
Now we're about to retire so will be getting another rig - a bit bigger this time!. Probably a 26ft Aussie-built 5th wheeler and Navara/Colorado/Ranger.
Now older and greyer than in this photo!

Wow, a kodak moment for sure there Robomo. Welcome to the gang, enjoy here and out in the playground. Great people and some very knowledgable people here so ask questions if you need too.

Welcome from us too. A van that size would cost a bit more these days. And weigh a lot more. When I think of what we used to pack into our little 10' van I now wonder how we ever got up the hills. Enjoy the forum like we do.

You did better than me - my XP eventually self-destructed so I traded it in (for far less than I bought it) on a Leyland P76. Not too sure if that was exactly the bargain of the century!
However, I reckon my mustard coloured jeans were more 'hip' than your grey strides!

Way to go with fifth wheeler but I would give Nissan a big miss, I had big trouble with
cooling and fuel system, and power loss. Nissan has too many sensors on line. Toyota is the way to go in my opinion.
Never had a problem since.

Had an XP - it was OK around town but boiled like hell on trips - had to stop all the time to let it cool down, and that was without towing a van. Tried a bigger radiator with no joy - got rid of it for an XW.

Thanks guys, some interesting comments. Looking forward to investigating the various Aussie 5th wheelers I've been told about and talking about what tug to get.
I must say there is a fair variety of opinion on both vans and tugs scattered throughout this site so I guess it's going to come down to what I feel most comfortable with on test drives and the $$$.
For what it's worth the Leyland P76 V8 was actually very good once it got sorted (took nearly a year - terrible quality control) and I enjoyed the three years that I owned it. Essentially a good car but launched at the wrong time (mid-east oil crisis).
