Keep three cans of beer in the vehicle or van in a warm place ( not refrigerated) If a fire starts in the vehicle or van ,in an emergency get out a can of the beer and pull the ring- top just enough to let the foam squirt out.
There is enough dioxide and foam in one of these cans to put out an average - sized fire
A fire could start in the electricial wiring/carburettor or upholstery, but with three cans most people would cope putting out any fire that might occur.
So before any trip I just tell the wife I am heading down the street to get two dozen fire extinguishers for the trip.

And I guess these emergency fire extinguishers have a 'use by date' which all prudent grey nomads must follow.

It's a damn shame that they don't make the extra big 750ml 'fire extinguishers' that were around in the 60's and 70's.

Yup - 3/2 a bottle they were, 26 fluid ounces - same price as a packet of Peter Stuyvesent or a gallon of super petrol. I always wondered why the 3 necessities of life - fuel, fags and booze were all the same price. No discounting then which made life easier and kept the corner shop open.

That's some sacrifice to make using all three on a lost cause . Let it burn
