I think that's a skink Milo. They usually have a longer tail than that, but can drop it if something catches them by the tail. This one looks like he's (or she's) growing a new tail as its a bit short.

Yep definitely a Blue Tongue, (From my time as a Park Ranger)..., and I would call him Blue, cause you can tell from the gleam in his eye that it is a boy.

Are you challenging the Disney, or is it the Irwin, view of nature? That wild animals are just waiting to be interacted with.
You have me laughing, remembering the city raised wildlife expert who didn't listen when we advised her not to pat the Brushtail on the trellis.

Yes, but Wombat has a predator called Marj that loves bobtails, so not letting him near mine, he'll take them home for Marj's supper!
Mine are Western Shinglebacks (aka bobtails) and can be seen in this link as can the eastern shingleback;

Hey Duh, how long to you think they will take to cook?

Not as long as python

About twice as long as they take to catch.
Peter
Bluey's do, but my snake (Marj) must never be cooked.
Although they have a blue tongue too, bobtails are not generally known as "blueys" but the skinks with the long skinny tails over east are.
The male is called "Milo".......
