Speaking of fools, years ago driving to the Port Macquarie races, I was almost at the crest of a hill when I saw a car on the wrong side of the road (overtaking across double lines) headed straight for me at speed. Instinctively, I hit the shoulder dirt, fishtailed wildly as I wrestled with the wheel, managed to straighten up, got back on the tar and continued on, having just missed certain death by mere seconds or perhaps less. My passenger didn't say a word. Neither did I.
