Hopefully not a silly question.....b-u-t.......I have a Dometic 3 way electronic ignition fridge, Model RM4401, which runs very well on 240V, holds temp on-the-go with 12V but refuses to light on gas Have proved gas in the system by using the stove AND followed the instructions re starting the fridge on gas. The gas ignition switch is supposed to flash when turned on and then stop flashing when the gas has ignited but does NOT flash at all (Wish I had the old(er) style whereby you pushed the ignitor itself) Is there something obvious I am missing or are we looking at professional help ? Any assistance greatly appreciated

HI
[1]Has it ever worked on gas?
[2]Do you have a battery in the van?
[3]if yes to [2]is the battery fully charged?
That model requires a permanent 12V supply for the electronic ignition & control

Interesting, is the fridge installed in the motorhome in your avatar? I think the 4401 was last a century model.
It sounds like you don't have a manual for it. Open Google and type in - dometic rm 4401 manual - and after you hit the go button it will be the first entry. You should get you answer in that manual. Have a look at the page numbered 12 on the RHS and check your 12 V supplies are connected properly.
- Fridge has worked before on gas twice but has just decided not to play the game at the moment
- When the fridge has worked before, the ignitor seemed to flash on the switch for at least 6 flashes before it went out (the first time)....the second time it only flashed for 3 times and since then has refused to start
- The motorhome deep-cycle battery is fully charged by a 120W solar panel
- I have the original Dometic manual but can't seem to find a definitive answer re this particular problem
- Will check the 12V connections as soon as I can
Thanks again........

After removing the front panel of the fridge and checking connections things are working again. Don't know what I did but have tried it again on 4 different occasions and we seem to be back on track. Thanks for everyone's assistance. Cheers Gregg

I experienced the same problem with the little Dometic fridge fitted to our Jayco Flamingo camper, ran on 240v and 12v but not gas.
It was a bit fiddly and took a while to get at it, but the problem was caused by some some 'gunk' in the burner 'tube' which I managed to remove with a pipe cleaner. Looked like one of those white ball spider nest things.
I didn't take any photos but I would be happy to explain how to access the burner to anyone who experiences the same problem.

Works a treat now on gas!
Good luck
