Personal opinion ... I think ya sellin' yerself short freehazzas. The painting looks pretty good to me.
As good as, or better, than some I see in galleries. Keep it up coz, no matter wot anyone else might say, it's what floats your boat that matters.
I used to do lotz of charcoal paintings before I concentrated on photography. Sold a few but I get more satisfaction from photography these days - guess it's more 'instant'.
Cheers - John

That is very clever. You might like to pop it in Crafts Corner, which a great spot for it.

But if you paint your bucket you won't be able to read the list

Looks great to me, I wish I could do as well, there'd be pictures all over the van (when we get it) :) Keep going Kerri or Paul and I'm sure you'll get something you like.

That attempt looks pretty good to me. There have been many times I would loved to have captured a beautiful scene but I can't even draw stick men. Just have to make do with the camera. You have done well.

I painted it from an old photo i had. Not quite up to doing free hand yet. Here is one i finished just now. I think i like this one better than the first. Dont know if want to exhibit, maybe just sell in parks ect as we travel if i get good enough and somebody wants them. Oils are great to work with but take forever to dry so hubby has made me a drying rack.
i def like being able to paint over mistakes. Thought of using acrylics as they dry faster, but dont know if you can get the right look with blending. Will eventually get the oils worked out.

Thanks guys, but i think it looks better in the photo than the flesh. Would love to be good enough one day to sell some at markets and make it pay for the paint. Its not cheap.

Looks pretty good for a first attempt - my late husband took up oil painting at age 42 - didn't even know before then that he could paint.
Exhibited and sold a few paintings - he was very good, went to classes to learn technique, his teacher was very enthusiastic and encouraged him to continue.
Enjoy your hobby - go online and search for oil paints and stuff - may find it cheaper.

freehazzas it looks great. Did you paint from the real scene or a photo of the scene? I haven't tried oils but I have tried watercolours. Hope to do more next time we go away. I think oils are more forgiving - you can paint over mistakes! Haha. Most importantly, just have fun. It's very relaxing.

Of the two (3) paintings on this thread, I only wish I was that talented. Very good effort. I must say that I could not spot the difference between No. Photo and No. 2 photo. Ha!! Ha!!!
Well done folks.
