Well , ready to go again ! After a somewhat muddled 18 months I am really looking forward to heading off tomorrow. During that time I have bought a 2008 Ford FG ute ,factory dedicated LPG , low kms.I have fitted an extra 100 litre gas tank and a canopy. I also found a Millard 3.6m poptop Micro XP. Price was great although it needed some renovation, new internal roof which was water damaged , new tyres and spring hanger bushes. I have also fitted a 180 watt solar system, 2 panels feeding 2 AGM batteries. All lighting has been replaced with LED. Also fitted a 2 camera reversing system for ease of re-hitching(solo) and better rear viewing from the van. The roof has been resealed using a heavy , heat reflective latex type paint and 5 coats of sealer. No sign of any leakage, even with the rain we have had here in Perth this last 8 weeks. Registered gvm is 790 kgs, so do not expect fuel usage to rise to more than 19L per 100kms. As most of the journey is open road steady cruise control drive should help achieve this figure. Heading east across the Nullabor, free camping where possible into Smokey Bay, Streaky Bay SA for a few days each. Then heading to Broken hill, Lightning Ridge and thru to Longreach before heading to the coast and Yeppoon where I will base myself until after Xmas.
Cheers
Bob

Keep in touch. I would be interested in the fuelfigures. By the way, I think you meant 19 ltrs to the 100 klms. Bill

Thanks Bill. Yes you're right. I'm basing that target figure on a return trip to Albany without the van and I got 13.8L/100kms at posted speed limits of 110kph. Will be in Townsville possibly middle/ end of November so if you are around might catch up for a coldie.....cheers

Thanks Spida. Is your Navara petrol, diesel or gas 4 cylinder or 6?. Remember my ford is gas only , so 25% more fuel than petrol. If your petrol only, those consumption figures aren't too bad for pulling an 18footer

Congratulations on the new "toys" Bob, if the Ford is gas only do your homework for refuelling points as I understand it can be hard to get gas in some places, just what I have heard from others, perhaps gas users may comment on this
Cheers
