Anhingas and Cormorants are very similar but this beauty I photographed on the Man O War Steps near Sydney Opera House is an Anhinga, also known as an Australasian Darter. Unlike most seabirds, their feathers are not waterproof, so they spread their wings and hang them out to dry. Aren't they spectacular?

They certainly are spectacular, even more spectacular is the mess they make if they happen to crap while flying over your car, intsant racing stripes.
