Not normally one to go one better Billeeee, but could not resist.
These shots from the Roxby Downs area of SA, have never seen SDP as prolific.

Hey Santa - Great shot! I have to ask - Did you get a butt full of prickles? Why do I ask, one may well ask! Well at the gate way to Purple Downs Station just a bit south of Roxby Downs towards Woomera in 1997 we saw a similar display. Yours truly dived to the ground for some close ups and got a full load of rotten prickles from shoulders to ankles and each arm - boy that HURT. A work colleague at Woomera told me that in her years as a Governess on Mt Eba Station, she had seen acres of several different colours of SDP as well. We would have loved to have witnessed that! Thanks MC, firstly that's SHMBO not me, nope, no problem with prickles, you must have been unlucky, we lived in the area for over 20 years, prickles of any type are not really a problem up there.
Whether or not the SD Peas bloom is pretty much dependent on the season, if things are right there's no stopping them.
