If indeed it was a "deposit" perhaps the thought of using spinifex grass for toilet paper put them off

That reminds me of the specimen I seen just out of Taree in the Rest Stop, it is used by both Truckies and Cars. This one was on the road, where the truckies park. The lousy part of this is the toilets were only a two or three truck lengths away and these toilets have running water and toilet paper. I only seen it because I was walking my dog, and yes, with my little doggie pick-up baggie in my hand, ready to pick up after my dog.
I kid you not this one I seen was as big as a bread and butter plate. I was astounded. No paper either. Sorry no photo.
