Biggenden Hospital they give you bought bottled water. There's no way you can drink the town water, disgusting.
But I still prefer drinking water to coke, never been a fan of fizzy drinks.

Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but Ive never seen it written like this before.
WATER 1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down ones metabolism as much as 30%.

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.
2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.
3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

If you'd ever tasted Rockhampton (Qld,) water you'd pick the coke. Even in Rockhampton Hospital they allow you to put cordial in the water to take your pills.

I am still amazed at how much coke people drink though - or any soft drinks for that matter - unless of course it is used to dilute alcohol

I don't even use it in alcohol anymore, too sweet. I prefer dry ginger if I am using a scotch that needs diluting.
I much rather Johnny Walker Double Black these days. I take that neat but have to block my nose & close my eyes when sipping it.....
...if I see it or smell it coming my mouth waters & that dilutes it too much!

Coke and most other fizzy drinks are a diuretic. A diuretic can actually de hydrate the body. In very loose terms, a diuretic takes more fluids from the body than it actually gives. Coffee, tea (to a slight extent), most alcohols are diuretics and remove more fluids than they put in. When we lived in the West Indies, drinking water had to be boiled on most of the islands. We then had to store the water is the fridge is various bottles (no big plastic fridge jugs back then). For some reason, we used an awful lot of gin bottles holding said water. One would open the fridge and be confronted with what appeared to be a 'soaks' paradise. When we returned to U.K. I happened to be talking to a school friend about all the gin bottles in the fridge whilst living overseas. Some teacher heard part of the conversation and next thing, the headmaster was on the doorstep grilling Mum about the gin bottles of 'water'.
