To take the work out of maintaining your cast iron cooking equipment
If you leave the left over cooking grease and oil on your equipment it will form a layer of protection against rust.
But if you like to keep things nice and clean, try placing a layer of aluminium foil on the hotplate first for a easy clean up.
When finished cooking just throw away dirty foil.( bin it not throw it into the bush)..

We find using baking paper doesn't hold the heat like the Al-foil does.
The baking paper also can catch fire very easy if it touches any heat.

We purchased a couple of sheets of that black plastic looking stuff from a country market.Fantastic to use on the hotplate or grill when you may need to use a dodgy c/park BBQ,just wipe it and roll it up till next time.

We got some sandwich bags made of the black teflon stuff too. I used to use them to toast my sandwiches in the toaster at work. You get some funny looks when you put a cheese and pickle sandwich complete with bag in a normal toaster though.
