Has any body been quoted for their pets in c/p. I started to put my trip in place with the bookings and 4parks wanted extra for the furry kid, from coin donations to 17dollars
they sure going to miss out on a lot of bussiness. Booked else where with no extra cost.

This extra for a pet is getting more common due to the fact I think more caravan parks have realised to get the customers through the gate
They have to allow pets.So because of more parks allowing this there is not much competition between caravan parks now
so they are just cashing in on it.
The other aspect of this, some times it works out cheaper for say a $30/35 fee than say a $25 park then on top of the $25 you get hit with xxxx for your pet. ..In a way I guess it saves the park owner advertising a price increase, they put it up via your pet.
It is a wonder some of these parks don't change for your vehicle to enter.
Regards Herbie.

We have been travelling for 6 weeks now and twice I have been asked for a deposit for my dogs. One of $50 and the other $20 which is returned on departure. I don't mind this but certainly will not be paying for them if asked.

Have never had to pay extra for our dog. Have been asked once for a bond for the dog but it was returned when we left.

Just a short reply one of the c/p was40dollars per night +15for the dog and 100 for bond you do get the bond back . I think this is going to be the trend I will not pay for dogin c/p and nor should any one if wasnt for the G/N the parks would struggle even more, just like we shouldnt have to pay for electricity once fees are payed they are just screwing as much as they can out of us.

We normally don't use C/P except when need to power up batts. fully and use washing machines. We have a big dog (cross wolfhound/ridgeback) and only stay at C/P listed in "traveling with dogs" or when we see a dogs welcome sign out front of a CP.

I was researching a few days away and saw one camp ground
charged $15 for 2 per night and $20 for the dog.
Another place fronting the same lake was free for dogs.
Guess where we went.

The dogs can't wash in the amenities, I can't wash their blankets in the laundry, they are not allowed in the pool, aren't allowed in the rec rooms, don't need the camp kitchen or BBQ, and can't use the swings etc.
The dogs never use extra electricity, and the little bit of water they drink won't cost the earth.
They pee on a tree, but really any tree will do, and it doesn't need to be special. They will also poo on the ground, but as I pick it up (and provide my own plastic bag) all I really need is a bin to drop it into.
So, at $20 per night (I assume per dog, so $40 from me), we get less than 1 litre of water, use of a tree, and a garbage bin.
Now,
If the CPs provided amenities for dogs, like doggy day care, a dog bath area, designated washing machine for blankets etc, dog pool, free doggy bags, and fenced off lead area, I would pay.

That sounds like a very reasonable argument to me Rosie. I was wondering what does the dog have to have done to lose the bond they are asking for?

When you find the CP that provides those amenities for dogs I'll book there too

The Family Parks CP at Kalaru near Bega has a great exercise area for dogs. They also provide black 'poo' bags for picking up their droppings. They haven't come up with all the other requirements yet Rosie but at least they don't charge for what they do supply.

It's commendable that they do that, but even the council in Port Adelaide provide exercise areas, black dog-nugget bags and rubbish bins for everyone. At no charge!

Only once in 12 1/2 years have we been asked for a deposit (refunded) for our dog. We have however, several times been asked for proof of current vacinations. I don't mind that, as it shows that all the dogs in the park are vacinated.

Burrill Lake NSW tourist park council owned great managers do not charge for ur pets so if you are in that area give them a go. They have only managed the park for a short time now so trying hard to build it up

We have just returned from 3mths travelling with our large dog and had to pay a deposit which was returned on leaving several times. We stayed at a place called KOA c/p in Darwin I would advise you stay away from there if possible very expensive( $50 per night and $50 dep for the dog) not a nice place to stay.
We did a lot free camping and found that was no problem at all but be aware there are baits laid in WA and also we found Scorpions while we were camped on the Nullabor our dog was bitten by one while she was tied up, apart from the bite she didn't suffer any
ill effects. I had never even given them a thought.
Happy travels everyone.

Geee Bob seems like you only just left, glad to see that you had no problems with your travelling companion regarding places to stay? Yes I think you now know why FREE camping is the go and why so many of us get sick of the prices considering we only need power and water not jumping castles and swings. Anyway travel safe and enjoy the rest of your time.

I can thoroughly recommend Limestone Coast Tourist Park in Mount Gambier, South Australia, if you are traveling with your 4 legged companions. They have spacious caravan sites and also cabins that your pets can stay in, a huge 1/2 acre exercise , fully fenced area, and beautifully mowed and beaut owners, NO CHARGE for your pets!!!!!

In Perth, I got clobbered $54 a night. No discount for a solo person and $5 per night for dogs. That was a Top Tourist, with discount for being a member. I had to pay, to catch up with friends. But I didn't stay as long as I had intended, and didn't see half of my friends.
I probably won't rush back either.
