For all my life I have voted, even when working overseas, I made the effort to make a postal vote. Now this one simple post has made me consider that I might have been wasting my time.

Voting is something the older generation has taken so seriously that now, even when my Dad has dementia, my Mum thinks he still needs to vote! Nothing my brother or I have said has made any difference. I'm glad though that we have the chance to vote. If each one of us takes it seriously it will make a difference. Except that vote my dad might make! Sorry. ( Seems he's been copying Mum's vote for quite a while. I guess there would be many more like that out there too!)

I've always felt that our right to vote is the most precious thing we have as citizens... its just the problem of choosing somebody to vote for who's even slightly less devious and untruthful than the others!!!

The Labor Party has dumped our first female PM and replaced her with a court jester.

Hi all, Just a reminder that we discourage discussions about politics and religion on this forum as they can end negatively. We're very keen to maintain the positive atmosphere which generally prevails on this forum and would appreciate if everyone could avoid commenting about political leaders and issues. Thanks for your understanding.

If you are an itinerant voter, of "no fixed abode", then which federal electorate, if any, should you be enrolled in?

Thank god, only a month of pain left!!

Good question Dorian, I'd be interested in knowing that too. One of our full timers on the road should know that one!
Woz, that would be one pain out of the way, but then other pains follow.....

Hi Dorian
My wife and I are in this situation, we are registered as itinerant migrants.
Our last and known place of registered residence was WA, so our federal electorate if we were voting in Queensland would be WA.
However I don't quite understand why this would be an issue in a Federal vote anyway, unless it's just to see what parts of the electorate are voting for what.
Hope this helps

I share Gerty's view, people sacrificed their lives to gain us the right to elect our government and many others died protecting that right. That so many treat it with such disdain or as an inconvenience is an appalling reflection on our culture.
Thanks for the info from me also Mark and DD, I had no idea about that

As an itinerant voter of no fixed address for some years, I am still enrolled in the Fed electorate in which I used to live. Its never been a problem and easily accessed as an absentee vote .. but as the term " itinerant" is not the choice label to be seen at voting centres, merely ask an official there and you could likely be pointed in the direction of a sign indicating "Away Voters" which is what happened to me last time ..

To register as an itinerant see the information provided by the electoral commission at: http://www.aec.gov.au/enrolling_to_vote/special_category/enrolment_with_no_fixed_address.htm
