I mentioned on a different topic regarding Toowoomba Council charging an additional $3 entry fee for campers (boom gate entry system) each and every time you re-enter and leave the facility. For example, if you stay and pay for 3 days at $8 per day it is $24 per person plus the initial $3 entry per vehicle. if you come and go 3 times during your stay, shopping, sight seeing, fuel, etc it will cost you an additional $9. Personally, i find this unacceptable and will not stay there unless I really need to. I have written to Toowoomba Council to record my objection to this additional UNDISCLOSED charge and have copied it below. Please feel to add your objections by contacting Toowoomba Council direct If you see fit.
This does not change the fact that Cressbrook is a great place to stay, but be aware of the above info re undisclosed costs.
-------------------------
Thank you for clarifying what many people feel is nothing but a financial rort!
You charge $9 per person per night plus $3 initial entry and then turn around and charge an additional $3 for each and every time we have to leave and re-enter the facility ie., to go shopping, get fuel, go sightseeing, etc.
This makes the cost to stay at Cressbrook as bad as what is charged by caravan parks!
I have spoken to many travelers recently and they all feel you have priced yourself out of their patronage also. I will also go as far as posting this information on all Caravanning, camping, Seniors and Retiree forums that i know of as most travelers are not aware of this until it is too late.
I Loved Cressbrook, but you have made it financially unviable for me and many other travelers., who feel there is too much to see and do in your region to fit in just one or 2 days. 3 trips in and out of Cressbrook equate to one additional night For one person!
I would appreciate you referring my comments to those responsible for management of this area of your responsibilities and I would be interested in know how this additional charge is justified!

Good on you for writing to the council regarding this rort.
To me this type of behaviour if it was coming from a caravan owner/ operator would be getting taken to the fair trading dept.
If this council can get away with next thing caravan parks will be introducing it.

What does Cressbrook in the Toowoomba Council have to do with Crows Nest NSW please chaslib? I'm confused.

Hi, Crows Nest is the nearest Town, about 15 klms east I believe but Toowoomba is the council that administers the dam and campsite, along with Lemontree and I believe Yarramalong Weir which are both council administered camping grounds. Toowoomba Council get the camping fees and boom gate toll.
Cressbrook is noted in Camps6 and Wikecamps ... Still waiting for a response from council .... Not holding my breath for any positive outcome .... Just a matter of principal!
cheers

Subject line should read Qld then, not NSW.
Confusing, but I get the drift of the thread and totally agree. I live in SEQ and Cressbrook Dam was on my list of places to visit. I'll be sending a letter to the council too.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I think he means the QLD Crows Nest from his comments. Probably should have edited his post. But interesting to see what councils are trying on, isn't it?
We are staying at Hughenden in the RV Resting Stop - near showgrounds - just a large gravel area, nothing at all here, no toilet, water or power - $6 night!!
Not far away, just East of Charters Towers is Macrossen Park - huge area, with cold shower, flushing toilets and rubbish tins - free!!!!! Go figure!!

Stayed at Lake Cressbrook last week and the $3.00 boom gate fee has been lifted. Lovely spot to stay ,very well maintained.
