Maybe they meant to say, first male Brit Rocky but I don't think so somehow. I can never understand why the women's tennis play less sets than the men, they are just as fit as men if not fitter some of them. They are all amazing how they can play in the sun for the amount of time they do anyway.

What a pity this was not mentioned. Funny the English are happy to claim Andy Murray as a 'Brit' when it suits to like the Scottish!

It's always been like that Mark. Anytime the English win, or do something great they're English. Irish, Welsh or Scottish are always claimed as "British."
As for men wearing Skirts, if you go back throughout history, Trousers are a relatively modern invention.
The Crofters [male] in the Highlands used to Knit, too, during the long winters, but I don't think anyone would have been game to tell them they were not "Manly" because of it.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Yes, it's a bit like the rugby last week, the British Lions that beat the Wallabies were made up of players from Wales, Ierland, Scotland, and England, As an EX-POM (Aussie Citizen, and as pointed out on another post................ TRUE BLUE for the Aussie's) it's a bloody joke!! What we should do is have a team made up from the Wallabies and the All Blacks and then see what happens!! Your right, people are all too quick to adopt the winners as their own. Scotland recently won the right to be their own country, so how the UK can claim it as a win is beyond me. I say take a chain saw across the border and set them free............. men wearing skirts indeed!!!! LOL

I can't stand to watch women's tennis anymore, unless I mute the sound. Sharapova's grunts and screams are a huge turn-off. I can't understand why her opponents don't complain.
BTW, it appears that the gaffe was one of David Cameron's:
"To become the first British player to win Wimbledon for 77 years is a fantastic achievement and will rightly go down in our history books."
Labour leader Ed Miliband picked up on the gaffe. He said: "Let me first join you in paying tribute to Andy Murray for his fantastic victory following Virginia Wade's victory in 1977.

Unless we apply a quota system, such a team would be All Black.

It was a tongue in cheek comment .......!! I have spent a lot of time with some of the Queens Highlander & The Black Watch regiments who all wear kilt's................. Definatley would not mention "Manly"
.... and read about her credentials here .... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Wade
