The vet and I are having a long term relationship!
No, not like that, ............ but I am making the payments on his BMW!
Other than the normal vaccinations etc, the boys (Paddy and Mick) have been quite healthy, until, that is, they both turned 7 this year.
Paddy began having fits ($200 plus for the diagnostic bloods etc). Both have had lipomas removed this year ($700 each) and the "ball fiend" now needs both cruciate ligaments repaired ($1400 each).
Thank God they at least have good teeth!
We know what you mean as we had Cody into the vets at the beginning of June with a stomach ache.
Xrays showed that he had swallowed a nice sized round fishing sinker (about 50 grams in weight).
Nearly $4,000 later he's back to his usual self.
Then there's the end of last year when he had cut his back paws quite badly and that was a $3,000 repair but that's another story.
Thank goodness for Pet Insurance!

Too bad he couldn't just pass that sinker out the other end! They cost us even if they don't get sick or do anything silly though, just spent $300 on the annual immunisations for my two. Don't have vet insurance, but have a credit card. One of mine also has seizures occasionally which the vet diagnosed some years ago as epilepsy, though not severe or frequent enough to require treatment. Now I can't help wondering whether that was a mis-diagnosis anyway. Since I retired he doesn't have them any more, except for at Christmas when I left him home for 4 days running. Seems more like separation anxiety induced to me. Still, they are cheaper than kids, and as I always tell people, they will never want to divorce me and take half the house

But we'll always say " They're worth it."
Vet treatment aside it pays to shop around.
A flee treatment at the vet was $95 for 6 doses.
Found the same brand on EvilBay for $43 in my hands.
Talk about mark up !
