Without going into too much detail, I was in a similar position!!
In another post I talked about nearly losing my life. Life is SO short it's scary. Mate, you've seen the light, get out there and enjoy what you have.
Thanks for sharing your post, takes a brave man/women to put those thoughts into words.
Take care Mark

just want to share this moment,,,the other day I was sitting out in my garden trying to soak up a bit of winter sunshine and was just thinking about nothing in general,,suddenly like a broken bottle to the back of the head it came to me, I have spent so much of my life cashing the almighty dollar that I had forgotten how to live in the moment, I have spent a long time hating people who have done me wrong somehow that I had forgotten how to love, I had spent so much time feeling sorry for myself that I'd forgotten how to be happy, not with what I thought I needed but happy with what I had,, there is an old saying that goes something like this......a wild bird will fall frozen dead from a bow having never felt sorry for itself....so now I figure that if it's ment to be it will happen,, if i'm ment to have something I will have it, if I'm ment to go somewhere I will go there, there is some much and so many telling us that we need this or that or we need this much money or what ever, but the bills still get paid, food still gets put on the table. So now I've given up worrying about what might happen and concentrating on what I can make happen.. sometimes the simplest thiings in life are by far the best less stress that's for sure

A fella once asked me about having enough money to retire so I told him what I got told several years ago....
How much money is enough......just a little bit more.
Hence he retired a short time later and said no matter how long he worked he'd never have enough so time to enjoy what's left now.

I like these ones too, but my "Bible" is Desiderata....
Learning to be content with what we have is a great lesson. So glad it's hit you beachball - hope it didn't hurt too much. Go and enjoy with what you have. There's been some wise words written here.

I I too know what you mean beachball57,
sometimes we can get caught up with the day to day things that life brings us
I reckon, as some say take your clothes off and go in the mud, good idea ,
try those clothing optional places, a week with out clothing ( being sensible with weather of course)
and you just feel like a new person, ready to take on the next day...

Hi Tony life is only given to us one day at a time so stressing about what tomorrow will bring is only wasting the valuable and unrepeatable day that you have got today, so stop smell the roses, soak up some sunshine and enjoy this fantastic day for what it is.
Have an awesome day
