Talking to local shop keepers here in Lakes Entrance I was sad to hear that the owners here are very worried about Not having the tourist that they had a long time ago And that some shops will be closing....Must admit I am not surprised over the Long Weekend the prices were way over the top....Especially the fish, Prawns, scollops sold directly from the boats They actually throw stuff over board that they don't sell...I said to one bloke """ Wouldn't half the price be better than nothing....."""No they can get stuffed....I' not selling my stock for peanuts....Terrible attitude I mean this is a great spot

We travelled all the way from Lakes Entrance to Rockhamton and were looking forward to eat lots of fish ,but it was very disappointing. The prices for fish was out of our reach. In some of the clubs they were selling Barramundi from over seas, no thanks. Flathead $ 42.00 a kilo, thats on the coast, I can get it cheaper inland. I know the fisherman got to make a living , the Goverment screwed them down with all the Marine Parks . Also we seen on the docks at Port Macquarie a truck coming in with a load of Euro Carp ,they were sold to some Resturants .

We like our fish but will not be paying those prices. As far Lakes Entrance fisherman, I would have thought it would be better to have some return on the catch than throw it away, surely that would help with their running costs or are they charging to much for the catch in the first place .. Just my thoughts..Alan

I love fish too but I have to admit that I buy mostly imported fish these days. I'd love to support the local industry but I just can't afford it.
