G'day fellow car tragics. I attended the Taree Rescue Squad's Weekend on Wheels today... vintage cars, hotrods, street machines, bikes, etc. Pretty good show with a lot of variety. I put a photo album together which you can see here.

Hi Gary, off the topic re Taree car show but I thought I'd let you know that you're in my neck of the woods. I'll be leaving Forster on June 5 to head north at a very leisurely pace - which direction are you headed? We might meet up somewhere.

G'day Jennifer. Actually, I haven't started my Odyssey yet. I still have medical "issues" that need attention. I'm due in Sydney on June 3 to see the specialist. Oh well... hopefully one day we'll catch up somewhere "out there".

Hi Garry,it looks like some people haven't anything better to do on weekends than stroll through the display of vehicles, take a few photos and post them, well I'M JEALOUS. You must have had a good day, plenty of different types of vehicles and a lot of good photos.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK,plenty of memories of the cars I couldn't then, and definitely can't afford now ,in their restored state. The photos of the chargers brought back memories of when i was young and stupid, now i'm old and stupid.cheers Peter.

Glad you enjoyed the pics, Peter. I had 5 Valiants over the years and loved every one of them - no Chargers though. As to "strolling" through the display, my legs are killing me today after all that walking, bending, kneeling and whatever.

Only ever had 1 Valiant, the VE I think it was nearly the last with the Slant 6 engine. Should have kept it as it probably would have been still functional today.

Hi Gary,
looks like you had a good time. I was in Foster and Taree last week from Tuesday to Friday, and all it seemed to do was rain, it must have cleared up for the weekend.

Great pics Gary, we do appreciate your sore legs. I did like the Red/Pink MG. I would love to have that one.......Dream on. (Some of those cars and bikes were at the Silverwater show in Sydney a couple of weeks ago)

Thanks guys. I had 3 slants and 2 Hemis. My last was a 1979 Regal. I sold it to a motorbike cop and bought a Kombi. Talk about chalk and cheese. As to rain in Taree, we've had more than our fair share... fine over the weekend but raining again today (Tuesday). And that MG Vic is a humdinger. The guy is a serious collector. I normally see him buzzing around town in his MGB complete with cloth cap. He spotted me taking pics and opened the passenger door for that shot of the dash. Love all that shiny stuff at the front, and the dinner plate headlights.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the Kombi Gary? If it wasn't a write-off, the chances are that one of my Kombi friends are still driving it today!

It was a 1973 model, QK - yellow, pop top, 1600cc. The canvas sleeve was relatively new, done by Trakka. I sold it to a young English bloke who lived at Bondi. I think he said he was an engineer, and that he intended to travel Oz in it. He was terrified of the thing. I stood and watched him drive away. He was still in first gear as he disappeared from sight heading for Parramatta Rd at Petersham. Heavens knows how or if he made it back to Bondi.
