You've done well to get that distance on one pension. make it to Gin Gin easy on the next pension lol ( as you know always welcome). Maybe you will be able to make it up for the Wongi get together.
Looking forward to seeing the new palace. Just remember their is a finite number of ladies to go around, leave some for the rest of us
Just as an aside. Gee a lot has happened with you since you were here in Sept. Talking of going to Tassie, buying a coaster etc. NOW IT'S ALL HAPPENED. More power to you. Always have to have a plan.
Cheers and safe travels,
John

Arrived on the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon and visited a couple of friends after my 1400km trip from Hay.
Today Saturday and I am in the Hinterland Regional Park a Wiki location near Mudgeereba, it is nominated as a 24hr overnighter but it has no usual camping area only white markers near the toilets. I don't expect to have any company tonight but there are good facilities, running water, flushing toilets, tables and seats under cover, rubbish removal and electric barbecues.
It has been a costly exercise driving from Hay and whilst I said that I would never be stuck in one place waiting for the next pension it has happened again. I did buy some items for the Coaster and have overdone it again. Not to worry there are more promising Wiki camps and I can always return to Stotts Island Nature Reserve to look up Mario, Billeee's friend.
The pic of Mirabella down light LED replacement globe to fit the halogen units in the Coaster and bought at a Coles Variety store. (a note for Anton) John

John I've met a lot of nomads on the road over the years who have said' 'We're just staying here a bit longer - have a few CUP days" When I asked about CUP days I was told - Catch Up Pension days. Way to go.

I know the feeling John (yeoeleven). Stuck here till next pension day too. But at home haven't been anywhere, because of the cost of Myrtles service. I can get down there, reverse of your trip, with one pension too. As long as nothing goes wrong. Next pension day replace front ball joints, so another tight week.

Yes there always is something else to spend money on, haven't replaced the table and kettle yet.
Jack Mac, you are right a lot has happened since last September and it all has turned out excellent, first the plan then the determination to see it through but it helps if there is no other viable alternative.
Been checking this site out and next to the light pole on the 4th pic there is a 240 volt socket which currently is charging up my camera battery and a mains water tap on the opposite side.

Some backpackers told me one day to always look around BBQ areas in parks etc., there is often a power plug available. So you days with the backpackers paid off with your observation, eh John. See you soon!

Hello John.
Please can you tell me what programme/maps that you use to find places to stay? I am a CMCA member and do use Geo Wiki but can't find the Hinterland Regional park. I am obviously using the wrong settings in the search.
Regards Chris

Hi Chris,
One way if you are in an approximate location is to click onto the site list and enable GPS and it will find your location and show nearby camps.
Another is to click on quick search and nominate free camps and find location then nominate your choice.
I was already on the Gold Coast so the first site was Stott's and the second Hinterland.
Hope that helps but it is all in the settings that you nominate.

Hi Vanman,
I think that is Wikicamps not CMCA Geowiki in the photo. It is an Android or Apple mobile phone app and costs $2.99 to download to your phone. Very good value, please correct me if wrong John.

Well that clears that up.
I also didn't realise that there was another Wiki so will have to look into that one. Can someone tell me where to find this application?
Thanks all.
