Why is it that unpacking the van and cleaning it out,
takes sooo much longer than packing?

Probably due to the fact, when we pack to head off the RV is cleaned ready to just pack the gear into, but when we arrrive back it sure as hell ain't as clean as when we left. Just take less and less gear each time you head off then you won't have as much to clear out when you get home. Just being a little stupid on this last idea,as it never happens in my case .

Me too, Grams. I've moved house umpteen times in my life and it's such a hassle! This time, every time I move, everything comes with me. No packing, no unpacking. Roll out the awning and that's it. Heaven on a stick!

No one wants to unpack the van................means you are back to real life.

I agree with everything said. I would love to be on the road permenantly. Coming back to reality is a bitch. Got home to troubles with mum, rtoubles with offspring. Just wanted to turn and go right back out the gate I came in. Actually I did notice. The closer to home I got, the darker my mood became

I agree....its a typical human condition to look forward to adventure and not to routine etc.
@Kaid, I once travelled around Aust on a motorbike (no sidecar, no trailer, just panniers) .... and yet it still felt like 'a burden' when I unpacked once I returned home.

I am now a Mexican, no longer in Victroria and settled in at Finley for the night.
Neil and Ruth, I like to get going early plus I just needed to get out in the playground again.
Pauline, I ended up hanging a lefty onto the Monash and headed through the city, instead of the hills this time, bad idea, the tunnel was closed, bugger, had to take a few detours to get back on track.
To get back on topic, I don'y need to unpack as I will stay hooked up to the tug as only a one night stand tonight and tomorrow night.

No, I only feel like moaning when unpacking but I determine to get it done straight away and we usually have it finished and having a cuppa within an hour - as if, unfortunately, we had never been away. What makes me moan more is that within a few days I am cleaning, sweeping, dusting, washing - where does all that housework end when you get home? Much prefer the housework I have to do in the van.

An easy fix to not having to unpack ,is just don't head home just keep driving...Even though we live in the van ,believe me it is still a pain in the butt when we move on to another job..

The thing about coming home is the huge amount of washing I always seem to have. I guess that's my fault for saving it up instead of using laundrettes in the last week of a trip.
