I intend to catch as many of these things as possible but aside from smoking which I hear makes them very tasty indeed does anyone have a recipe?
They have a flaky and soft flesh but a disappointing muddy flavour.
They could be a staple, they're so plentiful and easy to catch.
There ya go - fish and damper for every camper.
Cheers and looking forward to any recipes.

Cloak, have a look a bit further down the page... "Carp- how do you cook them?" . Good on you for trying, they certainly need eradication!

Oh yeah I see.
I watched a fishing show yesterday and they caught 12 in a very short time on simple rigs.
They banged them on the head to dispatch them humanely but then left them in the bush and I thought what a waste. They missed a great opportunity to motivate people to target these things, I mean who want's to go fishing and leave the catch rotting in the bush. A couple of simple recipes and preparation tips is all it would take to get everyone out there hunting these darn things.
The only thing I hate more than Carp is an empty tummy.
Bon appetite Steve

An old fisherman once told me to soak them in milk to get rid of the muddy flavour. Have not tried them myself.
