We were at Lake Benanee about a month ago and found it an excellent camp. Euston a lovely little town too. Even though its a little close to the road we didn't have any trouble with noise and slept well.
I was going to stay there overnight on our way back from Alice last June. We were a bit late in arriving and it was dark by the time we got there. The car park area, where PeterD's green arrow is, was full, so we took the track down to the lower section and turned to the left. We travelled about 25M before realising that the surface was deep sand, and got bogged with our camper trailer on behind. Luckily i always carry a decent sized compressor on board, so it wasn't that big a deal. Just let the 6 tyres down a bit, dug away some of the sand, and drove back out. Gave the campers up above, enjoying their happy hour, a bit of entertainment though. Ended up continuing on to Balranald and stayed in the motel over night.

Gday...
An update to the visits by other GN members to Lake Benanee NSW.
CAMPS NSW site 765 - GPS 34 31 13 S 142 42 39 - 15Km east of Euston/65Km west of Balranald
As stated previously, flushing toilets, a cold outdoor shower and a water tap but not potable (cloudy lake water). It is more of a car park/rest area than a camping area.
Patchy internet/mobile coverage (Telstra 3G) although 100 metres up on the highway it is strong and full strength
There are signs stating No Camping down near the foreshore and near the boat ramp ... as it is VERY soft sand - even walking through it was arduous. Other internet sources state that the Council has banned camping because too many people have needed rescuing from being bogged
I found it a bit disappointing on my arrival today, not sure if I will stay more than tonight. It would be a good overnighter.
If you promise not to quote me, I would prefer many other lakes in NW Victoria, even Greens Lake, in preference to here. I guess I will see what the weather brings tomorrow.

Gday...
The weather changed this afternoon at Lake Benanee
Very overcast, strong winds - 30kph gusting to 55kph. The temperature hasn't altered thought ... still low 30s.
Tonight I share the park with five other visitors.
Here's a couple of photos of the affect of the wind on the lake.
Cheers - John
